Vote or stop complaining

There are many lessons to be learned from the recent presidential elections.  We can and should debate the level of divisiveness that exists in our country.  We can question the candidates that were presented to us by the two major parties. We can question the legitimacy of the electoral college. But there’s absolutely no doubt that without registering and voting one loses the right to complain.

It is very easy to find fault in the parties, the candidates and the media. There are plenty of ways that all of these institutions can improve their approach and better serve the American public.   Voting is a right and a privilege. It is up to us to be aware of deadlines for registering, locations to vote, scrutiny of candidates and their policies is critical. And that responsibility rests on every single one of us.  The process cannot get better if we blindly rely on the spin from the parties and the media. It is time to ask questions, It is time to think for ourselves. But are we willing to put in the time, energy, and effort necessary to do it?

What is much more disappointing and frankly not acceptable is to have voices that continue to complain, offer no solutions and worst of all fail to participate in the process. Specifically, they fail to register and cast a vote.  On the one hand they want to change the system but refuse to be part of the system. Extremists on both sides of the political spectrum are quick to judge and find fault with our institutions, they call themselves agitators, some even call themselves journalist. But it is up to us as citizens to decipher their agenda, educate ourselves, and make the decisions that will guide our country to a better tomorrow.

With the election of Donald J Trump it is clear that many, but nor all are disappointed. Unless there is some massive fraud that has been perpetrated, it is time to accept the result and support OUR President. Yes, I would have said the same if Hillary Clinton would have received the minimum 270 electoral votes. But what we should not accept are voices who fail to participate in the process, whatever their political leanings or agendas be. Register, Cast a Vote or stop your complaining.
